Koshi Tappu and barrage

The Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve is a protected area and lies on the floodplains of the Sapta Koshi River in the south-eastern Terai, covering 175 km2 (68 sq mi) of wetland. It was established in 1976 and proclaimed as a Ram Saar Site in December 1987. It is a habitat for only remaining population of Wild buffalo.

We could see 26 varieties of ducks along with over 450 species, including Black Ibis, Honey Kites, Ospreys, Black Headed Orioles, Peregrine Falcon, Partidges and storks.
